The MAXXI museum is the National Museum of the 21st Century Arts. It’s the first Italian museum, inaugurated in 2010, completely dedicate to contemporary Arts.
The MAXXI Rome was designed form the anglo-iranian architect Zaha Hadid. His project has been chosen among 273 projects from all over the world, because of the ability to integrate into the existing urban spaces and for the alternation between closed and open spaces. MAXXI’s galleries are illuminated by the natural light, filtered by a special environments covering system.
The MAXXI tour include the visit to 29000 mq area with a large square, a library, an auditorium, a bookshop and a bar/restaurant. The tour include the temporary and permanent exhibitions of photography, fashion, art, architecture, design, cinema, theater and dance. In MAXXI you often can find also art installations or performances.
The real purpose of the museum is, in fact, not only to be a place where Arts are displayed and retained, but also a place for experimentation, study, research, innovation and production of Art.
The MAXXI also hosts permanent installation of Anish Kapoor, Sol Lewitt and Maurizio Mochetti.
