Of course they could not imagine that this white flatbread, topped with a wide variety of delicious combinations of ingredients, would eventually become one of the most consumed baked goods in the city by far.

After the roman pizza bianca (which, for example, can be topped with olive oil, rosemary and garlic), the tour will bring you to try the delicious roman pizza rossa, characterized by a fragrant thin layer of tomato puree, enriched with olive oil and a sprinkling of salt, thinner than the topping of the focaccia and the pizza you normally eat. The Pizza Rossa is a popular snack for Roman children (but not exclusively so!).

During the Rome Food Tour you can also enjoy croissants and delicacies, such as suppli (rice croquettes), which are a palate’s delight. It is a popular Roman street food and also known to Romans as Supplì al Telefono, owing this name to the fact that the Mozzarella, contained within, melts during cooking and so, when splitting the Suppli in half, the two sides remain united by strands of the melted Mozzarella. The name Supplì is derived from the Italianization of the French term ‘surprise’ (which, of course, has the same meaning in English).

The Supplì al Telefono are prepared by first cooking the rice in a delicious sauce. Once the rice is drained and cooled, small amounts at a time are placed in the wetted hand and moulded around a piece of Mozzarella into a small elongated ball shape. These balls are then dipped in egg and breadcrumbs and deep fried until golden brown.

[82
post-14286","visite-guidate-roma","type-visite-guidate-roma","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","tipi-di-tour-special-tours
["3h
Visita individuale","Visita di gruppo
["GET
