The church stands opposite Palazzo Madama where Caravaggio was given lodgings by the owner Cardinal del Monte, his great friend, protector and patron.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Church of S. Agostino and the Osteria della Lupa<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Next we will visit the Church of S. Agostino, which houses the superb Madonna of the Pilgrims, and then other renowned places connected to the artist, including the Osteria della Lupa where he regularly took his meals, the house he lived in and the site of his fateful fight with Ranuccio Tomamasoni , killed in the row, forcing Caravaggio to flee the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The visit will end in the Church of Maria del Popolo with time to admire the Cerasi Chapel where Caravaggio painted the wonderful two paintings, the Crucifixion of Saint Peter and the Conversion of Saint Paul.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":17932,"template":"","format":"standard","tipi-di-tour":[71],"class_list":["post-14285","visite-guidate-roma","type-visite-guidate-roma","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","tipi-di-tour-passeggiate-roma-en"],"meta_box":{"visita_include":"the Contarelli Chapel in San Luigi dei Francesi, The Church of S.
